Robert Funk of the Uptown Horns, has performed and recorded with James Brown, Joe Cocker, B.B.King, The Ohio Players, Howard Tate and The Rolling Stones among many others. Robert's composition and writing credits include music for The Comedy Channel, TNT, The Food Channel (The James Beard Awards), ESPN, RCA, EMI, Virgin Records, HBO, Rhino Records, VHI (Buster's Happy Hour).
Recently, Robert wrote and produced the music for the fitness and nutrition series, Results Thru Research. He co-produced and arranged music on a jazz project featuring Tim Duffy's Orchestra of Clouds with artists George Cables, Sonny Fortune, Dave Liebman, Billy Hart, Cecil McBee, Kim Stone (of the Rippingtons) and others. He has been active co-arranging music with the Uptown Horns for the legendary Duke and the Drivers and Fonda Feingold.
Robert produced "Tres Phunque", an eclectic mix of funky world music that includes performances by Brian Mitchell, Ivan Bodley and Jon Gordon. Album credits also include the title track "Delta Hurricane" from Larry McCray's Virgin/PointBlank release, collaboration with Buster Poindexter ("Buster Goes Beserk"), and co-writing and production of the "The Uptown Horns Revue" cd release. Arranging credits include "Tonight at Noon" recorded with Charlie Watts and Keith Richards for the Mingus Tribute, "Weird Nightmare".
