Shirley Alston Reeves, original lead singer of the world-famous Shirelles and me backstage. We're all dressed up in our tookies and ready to bedazzle yet another crowd. I've been playing with Mama Shirley since 1993.
On stage with Solomon Burke, The King of Rock and Soul, along with The Uptown Horns in front of about 10,000 people in Central Park, New York City. This must be early in the show because it was near 100 degrees that summer day and King Solomon spent most of the rest of the show holding court from his throne (literally) centre stage, handing out long stemmed roses to the ladies in the audience.
